Why Bethel Ridge is Needed.

A recent survey of married couples revealed that 90% expect their marriages to last a lifetime.  If reality reflected every newlywed’s idealized expectation there would be no need for organizations like Bethel Ridge.  Unfortunately reality paints a much more sobering picture.  In America today, over 50 percent of marriages end in divorce; with most of these marriages lasting less than 8 years.  Clearly the need for marital reconciliation is immense; yet, for every $1,000 dollars spent on dealing with the fallout of family disintegration, only $1 is spent on preventing divorce and promoting positive family values.  Our mission is to reverse this trend.

Bethel Ridge was founded on the premise that couples marry out of a deep-rooted desire for intimacy and acceptance.  These needs can only be met in the context of a stable and loving family structure.  After all, the family is the most basic and universal human institution, and a healthy, committed marital relationship is the cornerstone of this institution.  Research shows that marriage works.  People who marry live longer, make more money, and report higher levels of life satisfaction than those who live together or remain single.

At Bethel Ridge, relationships are our passion.  Our motto is “healthy relationships produce healthy individuals.”  And healthy individuals create productive and prosperous communities.
